Lei Kou Chai is one of the Zhi Lan Xiang (orchid fragrance) varieties of Dancong tea. It is an asexual clone, named after the original mother tree, which was struck by lightning, hence the name “Lei Kou Chai” (literallty meaning firewood struck by lightning in Chinese). The mother tree gradually withered after the lightning strike, but before it completely died, cuttings were taken to preserve the variety. Due to its intense fragrance, it is also known as Pidingxiang, meaning “Thunder Struck Fragrance.”

Lei Kou Chai is a rare and niche variety, with limited cultivation and low yield. It has a smooth and “meaty” texture when tasted, a very special and unique experience.

  • Variety: Lei Kou Chai
  • Year: 2023 (Spring)
  • Altitude: 650 meters
  • Aroma Type: Orchid Fragrance Type
  • Origin: Chaozhou Phoenix Mountain, Guangdong Province, China
  • Net weight: 50g/can, 125g/can
  • Process: Traditional charcoal roasting, medium fire
  • Storage Method: Keep away from light, sealed, and in a cool place.

The appearance of Lei Kou Chai tea leaves is generally rough, and compared to other teas of the same grade, it is somewhat “unrefined.”

However, this does not affect its delicious taste in the slightest. This year’s production of Lei Kou Chai is particularly outstanding.

In addition to the rich orchid fragrance, there is also a delicate milky aroma with a long-lasting aftertaste.

It can be considered an advanced daily tea.
